Don't Worry I'm a Ghost
The title seemed so funny and I thought it was a comedy drama.
Don’t Worry I’m a Ghost is one
episode KBS drama special starring Park Shin-hye as the adorable ghost. But
towards the end, it wasn’t that funny. In fact I cried watching the ending.
Well, basically this drama revolved about Lee Moong-ki who suddenly loss his
memory after being hit by a car. He later found out that his name is Lee Moong-ki
when he tried to find his identity with his fingerprint at the police station.
And suddenly she saw a girl that knew everything about him, his address and
stuff. Owh, who was that girl? No one
was able to see the girl except him. Sure enough, the girl was the ghost. The
title explained it all, anyway.
Park Shin-hye as Kim Yeon-ha/ ghost
Bong Tae-gyu as Lee Moong-ki
The ghost explained to him, the reason she followed him because
he knew something about her death. But wait, Lee Moong-ki loss his memory at
the perfect time. Hahah...what a perfect timing to have amnesia!
Later Lee Moong-ki remembered a bit of thing,
that he witnessed the girl’s death. He happened to be at the crime scene. Huh,
the crime scene? What the hell he did there? The ghost remembered that she saw
Lee Moong-ki right before her death, looking shocked seeing the blood and all.
But she was unable to remember clearly what exactly had happened. She though he
definitely wasn’t involved with her death. Okay, let’s look what exactly had happened.
Pity her, so Lee moong-ki remembered there’re also someone else at that place
that night, holding a knife. Lee Moong-ki reported to the police but he was
unable to explain it in detail since he couldn’t remember well also.
Then, we’re revealed that the girl and Lee Moong-ki seemed
to like each other secretly..I mean, not the ghost but the girl when she was
alive. Lee Moong-ki then remembered about her and asked why she didn’t tell him
earlier. Things could be easier that way. But anyway, now Lee Moong-ki
remembered, they started to date again, eating out and watching movie together and
celebrate the girl’s belated birthday. He was in love with the
ghost..err..yeah, to the others’ eyes Lee Moong-ki was alone all the time but
he knew that Yeon-ha was with him all the time. What a sweet couple.
Okay, that’s not the end of it. When they seemed too deeply
in love, the truth revealed itself. Lee Moong-ki remembered that he’s the one
who accidentally stabbed her with a knife when he and his cousin tried to rob
her house. Being shocked of killing the girl that she like, he ran away and
getting hit by a car. That’s the cause of his memory loss. Ahhh, what a heart-breaking
fact. Could you be less heart-breaking, drama? The ghost was very sad and disappeared
from Lee Moong-ki’s sight when he was arreseted in the jail. She said, “That
man...you shouldn’t follow him there...Live well, ahjusshi.” Huh...I cried, the
tears blurred my vision on the screen. Lee Moon-ki cried. He really cried. This
man who played Lee Moong-ki was such a good actor as if he cried for real. Damn
good!
And later, we’re showed with Lee Moong-ki’s flashback and
now he was in hospital, admitted for psychiatric treatment. He was alone and
the doctor narrated about his condition having seen her, because he didn’t want
to forget her. It’s just his hallucinations. He was alone sitting on the floor
of the hospital room and asked, “ Yeon-ha, are you there?” and she suddenly pooped out beside him and whispered, “
Don’t worry, I’m a ghost.” Phew, the end. Huh!
Yeon-ha : Don't worry, I'm a ghost.
What a long summary for such a short drama. Hahah...So, here’s
just my overall thoughts about this drama. Since Lee Moong-ki was able to see
ghost, I thought it was a fantasy drama, about a human fall in love with a
ghost ( the anticipating Arang and Magistrate promise the same thing..can’t
wait) but it was way too realistic in a way that it’s definitely not a fantasy-
comedy drama. I can say that the drama was written so well. One episode is just
enough to make me fall in love, cry a river and then sit back to analyze back what had really
happened.
To look at it again critically, Yeon-ha the ghost never told him
anything because what she knows is just exactly of what he knows. But probably
because of the traumatic event that he killed the girl, he tried to forget but
some parts of his brain never forget it and poops out from his mind in forms of
hallucination. I like the scene when the ghost was able to read his mind and
say it aloud. That was a form of thought broadcasting and it could be seen in
psychotic patient. I like that the drama did not provide us with supernatural explanation of a person being able to see what
he shouldn’t see, but making things more logical with the real world and the
common sense. For the acting, I would
give all the stars for them. Park Shin-hye definitely can act and I love her
more here compared to her other period drama. Eventhough Lee Moong-ki is not
considered as good-looking actor, he amazed me and I started to like him now.
Well, I think this would be plenty enough after not writing
for a long time. Gong-yoo’s Big and
Kim Sun-ah’s I Do I Do had officially ended and I would probably write about
them later. Till then, anyeong!
