Back to HK drama

It has been long since I watched HK drama. Honestly, I grew up watching TVB drama that being aired on local TV network. As far as I could remember I grew up watching drama like Armed Reaction, Burning Flame, At the Threshold of an Era and many more. I’ve lost count on how many drama I’ve watched and I stopped watching it ever since I moved to college 5 years ago and I didn’t watch TV there. I was in hostel and there’s only TV at the TV rooms, cafes and other public places. So, I’ve lost contact with the HK dramas within the time frame. I only watched it when I was on my long holiday.

 The Mysteries of Love

The latest that I could’ve recalled is The Mysteries of Love that I watched few months ago when I was back in town for my holiday. That time, the local TV network aired the drama and I enjoyed watching it. I sometimes looked up to download the drama, but I couldn’t find the good ones. You’re Hired is the only HK drama that I downloaded and still exist in my hard drives.  I was pretty blown by You’re Hired since I liked the plotline and characters so much. Charmaine Sheh is my favourite actress, since her Return of the Cuckoo as well as Perish In The Name of Love days, and not to mention – Dayo Wong is pretty hilarious in everything that he does. I first recognized him in To Catch The Uncatchable, and since then I was aware that he was such an amazing actor. Not everyone can pull out a comedy!

 You're Hired

Well then, just today I’ve missed the Cantonese drama so bad and started to look for any good drama to watch. Guess what I’ve found? I was glad that I find 7 Days In Life today. And I finished watching it in a day ; well of course with some skips and fast forward..hahaha! Looking at the list of the actors/actresses, Sonija Kwok and Bosco Wong are the only actors that I was familiar with. For the others, I might not know their names, but I’ve seen them couples of time in other dramas. But it’s not the actors that swoon me; it’s the characters and plotline. I really love it. Eventhough the story seemed quite illogical, to have a bunch of hotel guests being quarantined for 7 days – I loved the characters so much since everyone is unique and holding onto their untold secrets.

 7 Days in Life

Well, for me it’s a comedy drama but I didn’t understand myself -why do I feel so touched at the final scene as if I’ve  spent 7 days with them for real? Haha...for instance I think the guy that played Calvin is so cool! His face is so familiar and no doubt when I googled, he’s obviously was in so many dramas that I used to watch. I just found out that his name is Steven Ma. Hmmm, probably previously I didn’t take his role as important one, I was pretty sure that Calvin is his first villain/half-villain role. By the way, he looked so cool! Beware, every girls might fall for you despite knowing you’re a mischievous diamond thief, desperately wanted by Interpol. By the way, Steven Ma was in Perish In the Name of Love? What happen to my memory? I can still remember vividly Charmaine Sheh in it, but not him.

I knew Sonjia Kwok as the girl that kick-ass, well if you ever watched Angels of Mission but she could as well pull a descent girl role, like in A Step Into The Past with Louis Khoo looong time ago. That time, I really adored her beauty. She didn’t disappoint me in this drama as Christy. It’s a well-balanced performance for me. For Bosco Wong, I used to watch his character just as boy of the family but seeing him playing a cop, I would say I was satisfied with his performance.

The character that I liked the most is the bellboy! Sorry, I don’t know his name but he’s so cute. As for him also, I’ve seen him in so many drama but still I don’t know his name. His character as Tai-siu really lighted up the show and in fact I’d love to see him more than seeing Lung played by Bosco Wong. Tai-siu for me is cute, and eventhough at first he’s the kidnapper I saw him as a very innocent young boy. Well, though I’m pretty sure he’s not a boy anymore in real life. Not at his age. He sure aged a lot already. And, I'll make sure to remember his name, Patrick Tang! Haha...and not to forget, Tai-siu’s interaction with Ka-ka and the little boy really gave colors to the show. I’d love to see them.

For the ending, it fails to disappoint me. I personally love the ending since no one do get hurt. Everyone is turning into new leaves and becoming a better person. Well, one last word...it’s a wonderful drama- eventhough the Wonderful Hotel is not that wonderful, the drama is totally wonderful- at least for me. Others may have different opinions.

I wasn't that hooked into this couple, but why did I feel touched with this scene?

Unlike kdrama, HK dramas don’t really emotionally drives us into a huge tense- and probably that’s why I’d prefer to think that HK drama is much more lighter. Anyway, is there any other good drama I can watch? Any suggestions, guys? I’m currently downloading Yes Sir, Sorry Sir and off to watch it very soon. Till then, anyeong!
