Be contented
Yesterday, after having the discussion with the supervisor for our microbiology research project, I spotted a man with a young boy on my way back home. But the man, obviously holding a walking stick and wearing black glasses, like a typical blind man. The boy most probably his son, was a very small kid around the age of 8 or 9. The two of them walked slowly across the narrow alley with a lot of stairs and I followed them at the back. I was amazed for a young boy to have courage to take care of his blind father. But they seemed happy and contented with their life. Both of them looked very happy and talked to each other, warmly and friendly. His father must be really proud of his son. Those made me realize that even though you may lack in some aspects, it doesn’t meant that you have to give up on your life and not to be happy. Since we’re human, and human does not always perfect. Well, there are people with perfectionist trait but hey that’s the personality. The truth is nobody is perfect. It’s the fact that we had to swallow.
But I don’t say we should always be happy. Sometimes, we so
feel sad when things didn’t turn up as we expected. We got angry, frustrated,
not in good mood but it shouldn’t be prolonged. As human being, people really
have the emotion, mood and thoughts. That’s nature of human being. By the way,
grief or bereavement is normal but when it’s prolonged or inappropriate, it
showed that something went wrong.
There are
a lot of people out here who can’t cope well with stress. Maybe it’s genetic,
or it’s combination of environment, childhood upbringing as well as personality
trait. But to give up on your life because of sadness, it’s something really
not nice to hear. I met a girl who overdosed her father’s drug because feeling
sad after breaking up with her boyfriend. To look at her, it’s hard to accept
the she did commit suicidal attempt because of that issue with boyfriend. As I looked
at her, she is a very pretty girl as well as a bright college student who did
well in her studies. But why she decided to give up? She can meet up with a boy
better than her ex since she’s got the brain and beauty, boys will really look
forward to knowing her better. What a waste to ruin our meaningful life for
someone that it’s not really worth dying for.
In fact, I feel sad that I’ve seen a lot of people having depression because they can’t cope well with stress. That’s why you should always have other interest than something you just used to it. If things don’t end up the way you want, you’ll still have something else that keeps you stronger to face the day. Failing today doesn’t mean that your life is less meaningful instead it gives the spices and salt that will it more meaningful. Be strong and don’t give up because life is not all about success and be good in everything!
Be contented and live life to the fullest, since life is
short but it carries a lot of meaningful journey.
Till then, anyeong!
